Walter G asked:

It’s not real bad, but so much is said about credit score I would like to improve mine. I’m a low income male. Not real low. I’m above the median income level. I don’t buy much on credit. So my credit score is low. Out of choice I don’t have a Credit Card.

If you are a responsible person, credit card shouldn’t be a problem for you. That is the best way to get your score up. I’m sure you are paying bills on time which should be helping you already. Get a credit card and pay in full each month. See the site below for hints to improve your score and find a good credit card for yourself.

in order to get a credit rating you must have a credit history..to do this is simple ,get some credit ,pay on it for 3 months, never be late, pay off on third payment. do this until you get the credit you want. NEVER BUY MORE THEN YOU AFFORD TO PAY OFF AT ANY GIVEN TIME…

I would say get a credit card and make a couple affordable purchases. But definitly make sure your able to pay. Don’t go overboard with the card though. If you have any bills that need to be paid make little payments here and there on them. Good luck on your credit improvement.

You say you don’t buy much on credit. It will help your credit score if you actually start using your cards. This is for a few reasons. First of all, you are going to get a better score with cards that are actually considered “active”. So make some small purchases and pay them off when the bill comes. This way you are not paying interest, but you’re keeping the account active and in good standing. This looks good on the FICO.

Also, the higher your debt-to-available credit ratio is, the higher your score will be. So you may want to ask your credit card companies to raise your credit limit, even though you won’t use it up to that limit. This will make that ratio even better.

You don’t have to make a lot of money to have a good credit score. You just have to have a good credit history. So these are a few things you can do to help create that good history.

Just get a small loan for 24 months and pay it back in 12.
